Saturday night, myself, Amanda, Anastasia L., Bronwyn & Tolu headed out to the Post Gazette Pavilion (formerly known as Star Lake Amphitheater) to see Coldplay. Once we made it to the venue, it was time to tailgate...well...tailgate as a 31 year old. Ha, ha, which meant we got to the venue around 7pm not noon (the show began at 9pm), we had legitimate food rather than a crust of bread, good beer rather than Colt 45, chairs rather than ground sitting, and the big moment was when I was coherent enough going into the Pavilion at show time to know not to use the parking lot port-o-potty...praise Jesus!!!! Bronwyn & I (pre-show) and our make-shift coolies :-)
The show was musically and visually fabulous...they are great entertainers. The crowd appeared a little torn, due to the Pens playing their first game of the finals against the Red Wings on Saturday night. So, in order to keep the crowd focused and our spirits up as the Pens fell behind...Chris Martin & the other Coldplay members, helped to lead lots of "Let's Go Pens" chants and cheers...which added a lot of excitement and energy to crowd.
Tolu, Anastasia, Bronywn & Amanda during the show
The show was pretty much uneventful...which is another anomaly of being at the Pavilion...well, except for the part of me having to give the 18 & 19 year old boys (who were standing behind us) new emotional regulation skills so that they may process their lovin' drunkin' Coldplay feelings that were initially being expressed by crashing into each other, screaming and telling random strangers how much in love they were with Coldplay...you're welcome current and future girlfriends of those 18 & 19 year old meat-heads. Oh and unfortunately, Amanda lost one of her shoes at the show...actually, we think Amanda fell prey to a shoe bandit (better known as a Shoe Fetishist or Retifist), because her shoe magically disappeared and only people I know that can make shoes magically disappear are retifists. But the shoe loss made for lots of laughs....it ended up being a comedy of errors in order to get her back to the car, which was across the glass filled parking lot...goodtimes!!!!
